The beauty industry creates 877lbs of waste per minute. Our mission is to change that.

Created by our Founder and CEO alongside beauty industry leaders, our award-winning program empowers salons to offset their emissions and recover up to 95% of their beauty waste. That includes previously unrecoverable materials and hard-to-recycle items like hair clippings, foils, excess hair color, aerosol cans, and color tubes.

Our goal is to help salons and spas be green, build revenue, gain clients, and save money in a way that’s ethical and simple. We do that while also ensuring our own operations and practices are carbon neutral and sustainable. We’ve been certified by B Corp to acknowledge that we meet the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility.

Our Values Change starts from within

Think Sustainably

We’re being the change we want to see in the world. We’re making beauty beautiful.

Lead with a Big Heart

We act with courage and humility, and we value diversity and inclusion.

See the Possibilities

We see challenges as opportunities, carve our own path and go where no one has gone before.

Go All In

We go above and beyond every day to help bring our mission to life.

Our Journey From 2009 to today.

Back in 2009, Shane Price, our Founder and CEO, started noticing firsthand the beauty industry’s waste challenges. He knew there must be a better way. With a passion for the industry and a background in science, he launched Green Circle Salons, the world’s first sustainable salon solution.
2009
2009
We brought on our first clients. Located in Toronto, Canada, we helped our first member salons recycle their hair, foils, plastic and paper.
2010

We supported disaster relief efforts in Haiti and the Gulf of Mexico. In 2010, Haiti was struck by a devastating earthquake, and later that year an oil spill affected the Gulf of Mexico. We donated relief supplies made from recovered hair, such as sleeping mats and oil booms.
2011
2011
We launched our excess hair color recovery program. That meant we could start accepting and recycling excess hair color - helping to keep the 42,000 pounds of excess hair colour that’s washed down the drain every day from our waterways!
2012
2012
We headed west. In 2012, we brought on our first 30 salons in British Columbia, Canada.

In partnership with Virginia Tech, we created and manufactured something truly exciting - a new and one-of-a-kind recycling bin made from recycled plastics and recovered hair! By using hair to reinforce our new bio-composite recycling bins, they are stronger and lighter than regular plastic, making them a sleek and stylish longer-term solution for salons to collect beauty waste.

We launched Green Circle Salons for Independent Artists. Independent beauty professionals are different from larger salons. With less space to collect waste and a desire for greater flexibility, they needed a program that could be customized to meet their unique needs. That’s why we launched our Independent Artists Program! This program helps independent beauty professionals recover up to 95% of their beauty waste and become carbon-neutral in a new easy way.
